MASE/FL TURN Labor-Management Collaboration Conference

Our next MASE/FL TURN event is scheduled for October 22-23, 2015 at the Italian Club, 1731 E. 7th Ave., Tampa, FL 33605. Our conference will focus on Reframing Our Approach: School-Community Partnerships Focused on Whole Child Education. We will continue to collaboratively examine ways to plan and integrate the implementation of rigorous and challenging student learning and teaching standards, practices and programs. We will also explore new approaches in developing conditions for effective teaching and learning. Our agenda will feature local, state and national examples of promising practices and policies that focus on this joint work.

Topics include:

•Internal & External Strategies that Empower Educators and Students

•Organizing Strategies to Empower and Engage Students, Families and Teachers

•Understanding ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and the Impact On Student Learning

•Instructional Strategies Focused on the Whole Child

•Building Classroom-School-Community Partnerships to Support Whole Child Education

•Whole Child Education - Community Schools: Case Study

•Organizing Steps and Action Planning

Our MASE/FL TURN teams represent union & teacher leaders, school & district administrators and board members who are working jointly to plan and implement teacher evaluation systems and the common core standards to improve teaching and learning. We continue to encourage and support our MASE/FL TURN teams to jointly develop, implement and share their efforts. Additionally, we will work with teams to develop action plans in order to facilitate the work in our school communities. Our MASE/FL TURN locals are encouraged to invite representatives from their district and school administration, boards of education and community leaders to join their teams for this two-day forum. Our conference will begin at 9:00 am on Thursday, October 22 and will conclude by 2:30 pm on Friday, October 23. MASE/FL TURN will cover sub pay and one night’s lodging for up to 2 teacher/union leaders, 2 school/district administrators and 1 parent/community leader from each participating team.

The Conference Fee for the MASE/FL TURN Labor-Management Conference is $50 per person (includes breakfast and lunch on both days, and a social hour Thursday) Payment made be made via purchase order or check made payable to the Consortium for Educational Change and mailed to:

Hotel Accommodations: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Tampa Marriott Westshore located at 1001 N. Westshore Bld., Tampa, FL. The rate is $189 per night, plus tax and fees. To make a reservations call 1-800-228-9290 and reference the MASE/FL TURN room block (MASE/FL TURN will take care of moving one night’s charges to the master bill after your reservations have been made). The block cutoff date is October 1, 2015. Shuttle service will be provided from the hotel to the Italian Club.
